Smoke-Free Policy

Lac Hong University issued a decision regarding the prohibition of smoking on campus, specifically Decision No. 09/QD-LHU in 2009.

Smoking inside educational institutions is strictly prohibited according to the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms No. 09/2012/QH13 issued by the National Assembly of Vietnam on June 18, 2012.

In alignment with Circular No. 11/2023/TT-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health on May 11, 2023, Lac Hong University strictly enforces a Smoke-Free Policy.

Effective August 1, 2023, the regulation designates all educational institutions as completely smoke-free areas — prohibiting smoking both indoors and across the entire campus, including teaching facilities, laboratories, offices, and recreational zones.

The policy aims to promote a healthy, safe, and sustainable learning environment for all students, faculty, and staff, while supporting the national initiative for a “Tobacco-Free Environment Award.”

This commitment reflects the university’s dedication to improving community health, reducing tobacco-related risks, and fostering a clean and responsible academic atmosphere.

Every year, the University assigns a responsible unit to receive reports and feedback regarding any individuals found smoking on campus and to impose disciplinary actions in cases of violation.

During the 2024 academic year, the University recorded several instances of students smoking on campus, particularly in restrooms. Such behavior causes unpleasant odors and adversely affects the health and comfort of the university community.

In response, Lac Hong University updated our official smoke free policy in 2024 and informed all staff and students through visual communication materials such as banners and posters displayed across campus.
